Getting Here

The Alpine Pacific Triangle is a touring route linking three of Canterbury’s most popular recreational destinations. Hanmer Springs the alpine thermal village, known for its thermal pools, Waipara Valley a popular and developing wine region, and Kaikoura with its whalewatching and dolphin swimming.

Hanmer Springs is in the South Island of New Zealand approximately 1½ hrs north of Christchurch. The table below summarises driving times from a sample of locations:

Transport options include bus services covering most routes from most centers.
  • From Christchurch - Bus services are available throughout the day running between Christchurch and Hanmer. Email us or contact a local information center for up-to-date schedules.

Once you are in Hanmer, transport options include several courtesy vans and bicycle hire.

We are located two minutes drive or confortable 15 minutes walk north from the village center up Conical Hill rd to Oregon Heights.
